La Mazz's real name is Erick "Rick" Lamont Smith. He has been very active with different projects on K-Town/ShiftMusic through the years. He is one of the artist representing K-Town (Kaiserslautern) in Germany.

La Mazz' career started off with two solo singles in the years 1996 and 1997; "What's Up With The Party", and "When Doves Cry" (a Prince cover).

In the following years, he was the lead singer in Rappers Against Racism project. La Mazz appeared on most of the songs on the R.A.R. album "The Message" and their various singles such as "Sorry", "Key To Your Heart", "Memories", "Hiroshima" and "I Want To Know What Love Is".
