La
Mazz's real name is Erick "Rick" Lamont Smith. He has been
very active with different projects on K-Town/ShiftMusic through the years. He is one of the
artist representing K-Town (Kaiserslautern) in Germany.
La Mazz' career started
off with two solo singles in the years 1996 and 1997; "What's Up
With The Party", and "When Doves Cry" (a Prince cover).
In the following
years, he was the lead singer in Rappers Against Racism project. La Mazz appeared on most of the songs on the R.A.R. album "The Message" and their various singles such as
"Sorry", "Key To Your Heart", "Memories",
"Hiroshima" and "I Want To Know What Love Is".
He has featured as a background singer on almost all Down Low releases and had guest spots on Toyya's
songs, too.
In early 2000, he released two songs under the name
Dressman called "Game Of Life"
and "Can U Feel Dat". "Game Of Life" features Trooper Da Don.
