Yo Joe!
First of all, it's so fantastic that you are here. You will see that many people will bow down for you and thak you for all the fantastic music you have been providin' us thru the years. Well, I'm not gonna write here how big fan of yours I am, because you already know that... hehe.
Anyway, let's get it started with the questions. I'm gonna start with some great questions that one of our users, and great fan of yours, Dennis, wrote:
1. Why did Mike leave Down Low 2. Do you wanna work with him (Mike) again? 3. Who was adressed in the song "This Be Da Reason", was it an answer to the disses in "Mission (Booya)" from the Nana Album and what was that all about?! 4. Are there any unreleased Down Low songs you can share with the fans 5. What direction do you want to go with the "new Down Low" talking 'bout Music and Lyrical content 6. What are your favourite three Down Low songs (NO single please :) ) 7. Do you wanna work with any european artist on the new stuff and/or anyone from the past? (maybe from R.A.R., Ex-RnG, Ex-Flip Da Scrip) 8. Any interest in working with A.K.-S.W.I.F.T., Darkman or other Artists from the Euro-Rap era who are trying to come back? 9. What is your favourite Down Low album? 10. Why did Darren Tucker leave D.L. after 2 singles? and here are a couple of my questions: 11. What is Mike doing now? Are you in contact with him? 12. Were there any videos to "Don't look any further", "Thank You", "Wouldn't it be good" and "Living In The Ghetto"? 13. How did you come up with the name Down Low? 14. Tell us all about what you are doing now, and tell us about the new stuff you are working on. 15. What about the new name? Tell us all about it.
Thanx in advance for the answers and big love to you man!

Wow Joe!
Thank you so much for the answers on the questions. You can't imagine how much this means to us! And believe me, we are keeping our fingers crossed, and we're praying to God that you will come back strongly. You are the trendsetters man!
I'm just gonna continue writing down the questions that poppes up in my mind for now.
21. Do you have a special theory of how to gettin' back up there on Viva? I mean, you gotta agree that you have to get a video to the next song you are going to release, and it needs to get up there. It needs to reach the fans! I mean, sure there or a lot of people here on the site, but I can't imagine how many out there that have not forgotten about Down Low and would be thrilled when they would see you in their tv screen again. 22. What was that about Rappers Against Racism? Was it only a project to make some cash for the company? I mean, in my opinion the album "The message" is one of the greatest ever. And did you know that Shift released "The message vol.2" last year? But you know with what? Just some ordinary compilation songs from 2Pac and Dr.Dre and stuff like that. How can they just use such a powerful name as RAR and use it like that? It seems that they only care about their own pockets.... 23. Which was your biggest single-success? I mean if we talk about you winning most on it? Was it "Johnny B" or "Once upon a time"? 24. How do you pronounce the new name? "Jayeric"? 25. How did you and Mike meat? 26. Promise us to tell Mike about this site. There are so many people adoring you in here! 27. And promise us that you won't stop with droppin' phat rhymes on the tracks. I mean, for example "New monday" , "Potion" or "Another day". Man, your flow is so special and believe me it takes you deeply to your heart. 28. I just wanna thank you personally for your lyrics. They have helped me (and I'm sure many other fans) in some life situations. For example "So Long Goodbye..." helped me a lot, and it was a very special feeling to listen to your rap and know that you have gone thru the same thing. 29. Which is your favourite Down Low video? 30. What does the modern european hiphop need to bring itself back its former huge popularity? 31. How d'ya appreciate chances of any euro-hiphop-artist, who's trying to comeback and to hit the charts again? 32. When is your birthday? 33. What do you mean that you say that you didn't know about the company released the song? Do you mean "Livin' in the ghetto"?
That is all for now Joe. Thank you again, and we're waiting for your next answers.

Ok you all!! Here's the answers yo.. 1.Mike left Down Low because he couldn't deal with the producers anymore. Mike wanted to sing more R&B songs (like R.Kelly) with a hip-hop touch but we had our directions in Down Low, our own style, and we wanted to keep it. Nothing personal between us. We are still the best of friends. We talk now and then. And oh yeah?? Mike's a 2time Papa, 2 girls. Cool!! 2.Far as working with Mike, sure!!! Anytime.. We are homies for life you guys got to understand that. 3. In,"This be da Reason" song, it really wasn't a diss or something.. Just wanted to be heard that we did hear the track they made.Down Low don't get into fights over tracks just to sell records. I rather fight for the minds of the listeners out there with strong messages. Let's compete for that..And that all, that why it stopped there and didn't went any further..By the way, Nana and I are cool friends on the outside. We talk now and then.. On da biz-tip you know.. 4.Unreleased tracks?? Don't know.. maybe on the fly from the company.. just to make back profits off of the old hits..maybe.. 5.New stuff? What direction? Continue to show what we are into nowadays. R&B, Hip-Hop,Battle Raps,Sad Songs, Party Songs, Gospel Raps,Rap Band Blends, so on.. Let's grow. But one thing, the messages are dead-on!! Something from the heart in every direction. 6.My favorite 3 songs? And no singles? Hmmm...1. Freak On( 3rd Dimension album) 2.For those open people. Open from the "It Ain't Over" Album. It was recorded one time, a freestyle. We loved it. 3.Come into my mind,on the first album "Visions". A Freestyle. I love when I can kick off the top of my head. It show flows are always around me. But believe me, I love taking my time and write the thought right. 7.Working with other artists? European or not. My answer is always yeah!! If the campaign is really right. sure. But everything must be that way. I hate to do something and it don't reach the people. I could be working with somebody who can. 8.I wouldn't care honestly. I know them both.. 9.Favorite Down Low Album? Third Dimension but don't get me wrong, I love all of them especially my first. 10.Tucker left because we couldn't get along with his manager. Larry Johnson. 11.I think Mike is chillin' working on solo stuff.. He's a family man now. And yes we stay in contact. We are still best of friends. 12.Shift Music didn't have no money, spend it all on a boy-group named "Boys Alive" and didn't go anywhere.. So they just released anything hoping on a hit.. But no Video, no hit.. Shift didn't even talk with us when they released it, so I didn't know until you guys told me.. Sad, but true. 13.I and a producer daniel sat down and wrote out some names. And I had said "Low Down" and he didn't so much like it. Then I said "Down Low", He loved it. He ask me what did it mean, and I said " a sercet" shhh.. He loved it, and that how it was born. 14. The new stuff is finished now. 13 tracks. ready to go. Think on calling us," Jeric" (joe and rick), to hard squeezing Down Low from the other owners of the name. That's why no releases so far. But we see.. Their is still hope under Down Low as still the name. But we see.. 15.Answer that in 14. But the so called new name represent the new style of us. And direction. enjoy it. 16. It was censored because I don't like to say @#%$ and bad words unless I have to use them, theirs are no room for that. I'm a good boy, and I try to represent the good side of Hip-hop.Knowledge, wisdom, understanding, freedom, speaking out on racism. And so on.. 17. My inspiration must come from God or somebody else is talking to me telling me what to say and when over what music. It's a great power to have. If you are a true artist inside. 18. In France for a release? I don't know.. Gonna be shopping for a company over these next weeks, you all keep your fingers crossed for me. please, It really works when you all think on me.. Peace and there's your answers in a nutshell!! One love to all.. Be checkin In now until Friday!! Joe Down Low,

Thank you, Joe, for answering all these questions (the first 10 were mine) so detailed! Nice to hear that 3rd Dimension is your fav. LP, too ;)
Another important question (i think very important for everyone) is 39. Are these (9?) Songs we could hear samples from this spring, songs which are going to be on the new LP and represent the new style you wanna come out? That's important to many of us, because lots of people said, this is not "Down Low-Style" and they missed your raps in the short-samples. The music was too modern us-rap oriented. We were missing the old-special feeling the classic-DL-songs had. You know what I mean? Question 40. would be, who is producing you now? Are you doin' it by yourself or are you still working with Schubert/Gonschorek etc? Do they belong to directly to shiftmusic (in-house producers)? 41. Can u try to get Mike or Rick to check this board out? PS: I think you can tell Mike, next time you talk, that all the fans sending their congrats and best wishes for his little girls ;). Same goes out to your and Rick's family, of course ;) but since u mentioned that Mike became father of 2 daughters, i had to mention it especially :D 42. short one: what's your nickname u used in some songs? J exhale? or was it J XL :)
P-E-A-C-E and thanks! Dennis a.k.a D-e-f- \\ www.d-e-f-music.de.vu //
 can u hear him comin' ? |
